1. Introduction

The development of the applied economics of our school began in 1979 with the undergraduate major of agriculture and animal husbandry economic management. It was authorized to obtain a master’s degree in agricultural economics and management in 1986, a master’s degree in industrial economics in 2006, and a master’s degree in the first-class discipline of applied economics in 2016. Now, there are three second-level disciplines: regional economics, finance (including insurance), and industrial economics. Relying on the research platform of "One Institute and Two Centers" of the Regional Economics and Financial Research Institute, the German Research Center and the Southwest Poverty Reduction and Development Research Center, our school has formed outstanding research advantages and distinctive research features in rural poverty reduction and regional development, rural finance and insurance, ecological economy and green development, industrial organization and enterprise development, etc., and has strong talent training strength and high ability to serve local economic development. This discipline has qualified teachers, with 51 master tutors, including 15 professors, 14 associate professors, and 43 teachers with doctoral degrees. Particularly, there are 3 experts who are offered special government subsidies and 3 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province.
